Oracle Secure External Password Store Windows

When using SEPS (Secure External Password Store) in a Windows environment you could face some problems. Here is one I had recently.

Environment:

  • Oracle Fail Safe
  • Oracle services run from user “oraadmin” not “Local System”
  • Wallet setup is correct

In this case you need to grant access on the wallet files to both users, “System” (Local System) and “oraadmin”.

If you miss permission for “System” then the cluster services cannot startup the database. It will fail with ORA-12578.

That’s IT
